Breast Cancer Awareness Blog Hop!

Hi there-and welcome to our Breast Cancer Awareness Blog Hop. We'd like to bring attention to this disease that can usually be cured if caught and treated in time. Most all of us know someone affected and through this fun, P-I-N-K Blog Hop we can spread the support for so many women. It is dedicated to my cherished friends Bonnie and Terri who are still struggling with their afflicition. If you need to begin at the beginning, please click HERE to be taken to the lovely Denise's blog. You should be arriving here from Jearise's blog and there's LOTS of BLOG CANDY along the way including THREE sponsors!

The page I'm sharing with you today is 5 years old so not my current style, but SO SPECIAL that I had to take the opportunity to share it with you. Our LSS was selling 'Page for the Pink' kits with these brown and pink papers and encouraged each person that purchased one to return the created page to be on display at the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure. I felt compelled to purchase one though at the time I knew NO ONE afflicted or affected by the disease. I searched the internet and found the photo shown and journaled about how it touched my heart and why I chose it and returned my page to the store upon completion. A few weeks following the race the coordinator inquired to the store as to who had made this particular page. Apparently, at the race, she happened upon an elderly gentleman weeping in front of my layout. You see, this was his wife who had JUST succumb to the disease and he was so deeply moved by my page that he requested a copy! I still get chills when I think of this and the AMAZINGLY divine things our God does! Needless to say, I'm the one with the copy and I proudly gave him the original. Whenever I get lost in a crafty funk and lose purpose, I always return to this story and the true essence of what we do as scrapbookers.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Remember that when you're completely finished with the hop you'll want to return to Denise's Blog and let her know which project was your favorite. You'll want to be sure to become a follower of each blog and leave a comment there too. Your next stop is with Charity. Click HERE to continue along this delightful journey with us and be taken there. I wish you many blessings my dear friends!

  1. What a very moving story, Brynn!! Thank you for sharing it and causing us to give pause to think about how our work may one day touch someone so deeply. I have a neighbor who lost her husband to other cancers; Jerry has been gone now for a little more than a year. While he was at the hospital and in hospice, I sent him as well as his wife some handmade cards. Just recently, his widow Sally told me that she'd saved every one and when she is down in the dumps, she brings them out of the precious box to look at them again, and she takes solace in knowing how much Jerry enjoyed each one. I miss Jerry. He led a good life and was deeply loved.
